PITTSBURGH — UPMC has released a new way to register for the COVID-19 vaccine, for those who are eligible on Wednesday.
By visiting https://vaccine.upmc.com/, those people who meet the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Phase 1a criteria – which includes people over 65 and people with medical conditions that put them at greater risk of COVID-19 complications, are able to sign up to receive information regarding vaccine scheduling, as supplies become available.
“UPMC is committed to delivering as many COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible. We are encouraged by the community interest in receiving the vaccine, which is a critical step in controlling the pandemic and saving lives,” the website says.
To date, UPMC has administered nearly 158,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including more than 12,500 to community members, and we are eager to do more as supplies become available, according to officials with the hospital system.
Vaccine supply from the state and federal government is still limited, but by registering now will allow the hospital system to be able to contact about appointment scheduling.
“Please be patient – we want to vaccinate as many people as possible and will do so quickly once we receive vaccine from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There is no way to get vaccine other than the Commonwealth, and vaccinating the public will take weeks to months, not days,” the website says.
You can also call 844-UPMCVAC (844-876-2822) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., seven days a week, where an operator will register you over the phone, and then you will be contacted about scheduling an appointment when vaccine is available.
Once you submit your form, you will receive a confirmation email to the address you provided, as well as ongoing updates on vaccine availability and distribution. You can also access answers to “frequently asked questions” about the COVID-19 vaccine and the vaccine scheduling process.
