WESTMORELAND CO., Pa. — A fourth person has died as the result of a head-on car crash Sunday along a section of Route 30 in North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, according to partners at the Trib.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others died after being taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Coroner Ken Bacha confirmed.
Police identified the victims as Thu Thi Xuan Nguyen, 51, Lan Thi Trinh, 67, Phuongan Trinh Tran, 30, and Jeffrey Tomay, 44.
One person was also critically injured.
Police said the driver of a Buick crossed the center line and crashed into a Honda CRV around 6 p.m. on Route 30 near Carpenter Lane -- near Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi.
A passenger in the Buick died, as well as the driver and two passengers in the Honda.
The victims in the Honda were heading home from a Lunar New Year Mass.
Route 30 was partially shut down for hours after two cars collided in North Huntingdon Township Sunday evening.
Several fire departments and police units were at the scene blocking traffic as they cleared the area.
“To me, I think human togetherness has become even more valuable in time of tragedy,” said Father Dam Nguyen. “I talked to them like anyone else. When I heard the accident happened to them, I felt very shocked.”
