FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP, Pa. — UPDATE:

Macklin Haye and his girlfriend Savannah Blust quickly went from home-invasion victims to drug suspects.

Only Channel 11 was there as they headed to court charged with a number of drug crimes.

Troopers went to their Petrolia Road home in Fairview Township, Butler County on Thursday morning after the couple called 911.

Both had to fend off a man who broke in.

Police say the home invader had a gun, and used mace on Haye.

Detectives say Blust heard the commotion, got a kitchen knife and stabbed the intruder in the head and back.

According to the criminal complaint, once in the home, troopers saw what looked to be a marijuana grow room. They got a search warrant and took the following items into evidence.

  • Buckets, pots, jars of marijuana
  • Bags of a white powdery substance
  • Bags of suspected mushrooms
  • Drug manufacturing equipment
  • A notebook containing payment information
  • $70,000 in the dishwasher.

In court, Blust told the judge she was arrested in 2013 for drug manufacturing.

Haye told the court he was arrested before on two DUI charges and for manufacturing drugs.

The suspects told Channel 11 they're glad they weren't hurt.

Police have two men in custody from the home invasion and say the man who broke in is under heavy guard at a hospital recovering from those stab wounds.

(PREVIOUS REPORT)

Pennsylvania State police are investigating a Thursday morning home invasion in Fairview Township where both the suspect and victim will be charged.

Police say the person who broke into the Butler County home was stabbed.

Only Channel 11 was there as police investigated the brutal home invasion.

Troopers from the crime unit took evidence from inside the home on Petrolia Road, near Chicora.

“The suspect entered the home, maced the guy inside, a person from upstairs came down and started stabbing the suspect,” Long said.

State police say the suspect broke in through a door.

After he was stabbed multiple times in the back and face, troopers say the suspect ran.

Officers found him at a hospital after they say he gave a phony story about his injuries.

Very quickly, investigators realized the motive and say both the victim and suspect will be charged.

"We believe the motive was drug-related, that the guy inside had a ton of drug money that he wanted," Long said.

Long says two other people were involved, waiting outside the home. Police have not tracked them down yet, but say they have leads. The suspect who was stabbed remains in the hospital under heavy police presence.
