Victims of tragic mining accident being remember nearly 6 decades later

GREENE COUNTY, Pa. — Victims of a tragic mining accident are being remembered, almost six decades later.

Sunday marks 58 years since the collapse at the Robena Mine in Greene County.

This year’s memorial was done virtually, and the names of the 37 victims were read out loud.

The mine collapse helped pave the way for the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act of 1969.

It was one of Greene County’s worst mining disasters.
