WASHINGTON, Pa. — The 2020 Washington County Agricultural Fair has been cancelled because of COVID-19.
A post on the fair’s Facebook page announced the decision, which was the result of a vote from the Washington County Fair Board.
Concerns about safety during the pandemic were given as the reason for the cancellation.

The fair is Pennsylvania’s oldest, dating back to October 1798, according to the Facebook post.
Although the fair is cancelled, the Junior Livestock Market Competition will go on. The Facebook post said a committee has been formed to make a plan to have the competition during the dates the fair would have been held: Aug. 15-22.
