WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — A man is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl inside the Walmart in West Mifflin.
Roger Nigriss, 71, is charged with indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor.
According to detectives, a 12-year-old girl and her mother were shopping at the Walmart when Nigriss allegedly grabbed the girl’s bottom.
The girl told Walmart security that it allegedly happened in the bread aisle of the store. The girl said when she turned and looked at him, he appeared nervous and avoided eye contact, then stayed near her for 20 minutes.
Shoppers were disturbed to hear the allegations.
“It’s a public place where there’s so many people. For someone to have the audacity to just go up to somebody and touch them in that way, especially a child, is sickening,” Walmart shopper Alexis Light said.
Channel 11 spoke to a Walmart employee off-camera who said there are security cameras throughout the store. She said officers walked Nigriss out in handcuffs.
When detectives interviewed Nigriss, he said he was shopping elsewhere in the Walmart at the time of the incident, and did not recall any physical contact with the girl.
According to police, as the interview went on, Nigriss got defensive and said, “I did not grab a 12-year-old girl’s ‘expletive.’”
When Channel 11 reached out to Walmart for a comment, a spokesperson told us to contact authorities for details. Nigriss will be in court for his preliminary hearing in two weeks.
