West Mifflin woman killed in Fayette County crash

PERRY TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old woman from West Mifflin was killed in a crash on Route 51 in Fayette County Friday.

Hope Marie Derry, was a passenger in a vehicle when it went off the road around 9:45 a.m., hit a tree and rolled onto the roof.

Derry was extricated from the vehicle by Perry Township Fire Department, state police said. She and the driver James Earl Davis, 37, were flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where Derry later died, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

During investigation of the crash, the odor of marijuana was observed along with drug paraphernalia and the investigation continues, police said.
