PITTSBURGH — A flash that lit up the skies over parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio in the early hours of Wednesday has been identified as a meteor, the American Meteor Society said Thursday.
The organization received more than 700 reports of the fireball in the sky from several U.S. states and from Canada too. Most of the reports came from people in Ohio, but video of the meteor was captured from several locations, including here in Pittsburgh.
The meteor streaked across the night sky around 6:24 a.m. Wednesday, according to officials with AMS.
