PITTSBURGH — Soaring along in tubes at speeds in excess of 700 m.p.h. — it sounds like science fiction, but a company called Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is trying to bring such technology to Pittsburgh.
HyperloopTT, based in California, is working on a Great Lakes project that would connect Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh through the new transportation technology. The company released a feasibility study last week detailing the benefits of the project, which will move both freight and passengers.
But why Pittsburgh?
Rob Miller, the chief marketing officer for HyperloopTT, said there were a mix of business and personal reasons for wanting to bring the hyperloop to Pittsburgh.
