Morela laid the egg just before noon Wednesday, and it’s the first of up to five eggs she may lay over the next several days, National Aviary officials said.

Incubation starts when the second-to-last egg is laid and lasts about a month.

Morla and her mate, Ecco, will share incubation duties. You can watch them on the National Aviary’s livestream.

Up until 2019, wild peregrine falcons were listed as endangered, but they are now considered threatened in Pennsylvania.
