PITTSBURGH — A woman and two children were taken to hospitals Sunday morning after a fire spread through their family’s home in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood, officials said.
The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. on Westmont Avenue, where flames were seen shooting from a window of the home.
Officials said a family of seven was in the home.
The woman and two children who were hospitalized were rescued from the second floor, officials said. A man and three children were able to escape.
The woman and two children were last listed in critical condition, authorities said.
Fire officials said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen on the first floor and spread to the second floor.
