Woman hit by car while walking her dog in Pittsburgh neighborhood, police say

PITTSBURGH — A woman was hit by a car while walking her dog in Pittsburgh’s Lincoln Place neighborhood Monday night.

According to police, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on Mifflin Road between McElhinny Avenue and Naugle Street.

Emergency responders found the victim -- who has not been identified -- and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The woman’s dog was also hit by the car, so a family member took it to an emergency veterinary clinic.

Police said the driver who hit the woman and her dog stayed at the scene as officers arrived.

It’s unclear what led to the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
