Police looking for person who shot woman in Pittsburgh’s Hill District

PITTSBURGH — Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert Thursday morning in a Pittsburgh neighborhood.

Officers responded to Bedford Dwellings in the Hill District around 8 a.m. and found a woman who had been shot.

“When officers arrived, they were directed to a female with a gunshot wound to the leg. Medics transported her in stable condition to a local hospital and right now the investigation is still ongoing,” said Pittsburgh police spokesperson Maurice Mathews.

Crime tape stretched from one apartment building to the next as police investigated the shooting.

Witnesses told police the suspect ran off down Bedford Avenue towards the downtown area.

A description of the suspect has not been released.

Pittsburgh police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information that could help the investigation, to call them. You can remain anonymous.
