WPXI-TV is back for Verizon Fios customers

PITTSBURGH — Cox Media Group (CMG) today announced that Verizon has agreed to resume carriage of four CMG Television stations, after an agreement was reached between the two parties.

WPXI-Pittsburgh, WFXT-Boston 25 News, and WSYT and WNYS in Syracuse have now been restored to the Verizon Fios lineup.

“Our top priority is continuing to serve our communities. We know that millions of viewers in these markets rely on our television stations for local news and critical weather information, as well as strong network programming. We are pleased that both parties ultimately engaged in good faith negotiations that led to a mutually agreeable solution,” said Cox Media Group CEO Kim Guthrie. “Most important, Verizon subscribers and Cox Media Group TV viewers are now getting the service they deserve and the coverage that they count on.”

During the brief period Verizon removed the stations from their channel lineup, Cox Media Group’s programming remained available for viewers over-the-air and on all other distribution outlets.

“We want to thank our viewers for their support, patience, and understanding,” Guthrie added.
