MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A West Virginia University football player tested positive for COVID-19, according to university officials.
COVID-19 tests are in short supply. Companies that make the necessary chemicals—called reagents—can’t keep up with demand. But researchers at @WestVirginiaU are developing new tests on their own to identify who has COVID-19 and who had it in the past.https://t.co/aqJVvZG5Vv

The player was entering a two week self-isolation period as a precaution. School leaders said once they learned of the positive test, contact tracing was started and a number of additional football players could have been exposed. They were also ordered to self-quarantine.
Voluntary workouts for players who tested negative began Monday.
WVU officials said they plan to hold in person classes for the fall semester.
