Always will be changing the packaging of its sanitary products in an effort to be more inclusive.
People reported that existing packaging of individual products incorporates the Venus symbol, which is typically used to stand for the female gender identity. Such symbols are considered by some to be alienating to those who are not cisgender.
CNN reported that the news comes after transgender activists and allies voiced concerns to Always and Procter & Gamble, the company that owns the brand.

"For over 35 years, Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so. We're also committed to diversity and inclusion and are on a continual journey to understand the needs of all of our consumers," a representative for Proctor & Gamble said in a statement to NBC News Monday. "We routinely assess our products, packaging and designs, taking into account consumer feedback, to ensure we are meeting the needs of everyone who uses our products. The change to our pad wrapper design is consistent with that practice."
NBC News reported the company will start to remove the female symbols from packaging in December, aiming to have new packaging across all menstruation products in 2020.
