His father, Matthew Accurso, recently said the following:

"My miracle is holding my son for as many precious moments as possible and when the time comes, lifting him up to his mommy so that she can hold him for the first time in paradise.Thank you so much for all of the love and support that you have showered Matthew and our family with. It is because of your prayers that we have been able to have the sweetest family times around Matthew.I would be so grateful for your prayers in the coming days as we work with the doctors and medical staff and plan to see Matthew off to his mommy and Heavenly Father.”

Just two days before her tragic death, Action News Jax was inside the Accurso home, interviewing the family after their home was struck by lightning.

Lauren Accurso, who was a mother of three little girls, told the TV station how excited she was to have her first boy.

“We were just absolutely devastated when we found out and we are still devastated and we still can’t believe it,” said Matt McCloghry, pastor at Colonial Church.

A GoFundMe account to help the family has been set up here.
