COLUMBIA, S.C. — Just because a veteran has no family to claim his remains doesn’t mean he’ll go without full honors at his funeral.
Caughman Harman Funeral Home in South Carolina will hold a funeral for Petty Officer Third Class James Miske, The Associated Press reported.
He died last month and no family members were found to claim Miske’s remains.
Still, the 75-year-old Vietnam vet will be buried this week with full military honors at Fort Jackson National Cemetery near Columbia, South Carolina, according to the AP.
The funeral home’s parent company offers a program that provides every veteran with a proper burial.
Caughman Harman Funeral Home is asking for volunteers to serve in place of Miske’s family.
