A dog has finally been adopted after spending more than 1,000 days at a California animal shelter. Marmaduke arrived in November 2016 at Valley Animal Center in Fresno, according to a Facebook post from the animal shelter. He finally went to his forever home Friday. In a video, animal shelter staff said Marmaduke came to the shelter with no obedience training and was "cute but stubborn." He also had skin allergies that required him to have a special diet and medicine, KFSN-TV reported. Volunteers worked with the American Staffordshire Terrier to train him. Over time, the pup made progress. Time passed, but no one stepped forward to adopt Marmaduke. That changed Friday -- Marmaduke's 1,001st day at the shelter, according to the video. Marmaduke and his new owner are the perfect match for each other, shelter staff said. "Congrats, Marmaduke," the video said at the end. "Happy tails DO exist." |
