HONOLULU, Hawaii — A 65-year-old man from California has been killed by a shark at Kaanapali Beach Park on Maui according to KHON.
Witness told KHON that the man was swimming Saturday morning about 60 yards offshore when the attack occurred.
Emergency services responded to the attack around 9 a.m. with a helicopter and jet ski to help the victim. He was unresponsive and later died at the scene.
Warning signs have been erected a half-mile on either side of the beach and will remain in place until Sunday according to The Maui News, a Hawaii-based, daily newspaper.
