According to KLAS-TV, the crash occurred about 8 p.m. after a single-engine plane took off from Henderson Executive Airport near Las Vegas, authorities said. Moments later, the aircraft began experiencing mechanical problems and attempted to land at the airport, but instead crashed near Executive Airport Drive and Volunteer Boulevard, officials said.
The plane, later identified as a Beechcraft Sierra made in 1977, was carrying four people, the Las Vegas Sun reported. One person was pronounced dead at the crash scene, while another died at a nearby hospital, officials said. The two others on board were seriously injured, according to the newspaper. Doctors also treated a fifth victim, described as a good Samaritan who stopped to help, for smoke inhalation, authorities said.
