Teen reels in 250-pound shark off New Jersey shore

LONG BEACH ISLAND, N.J. — Gianni Mandile has quite the fish tale to tell his friends.

The 13-year-old hooked a 250-pound shark while surfcasting with his father Joe on Sunday.

A video of the pair reeling in the catch was posted on Facebook Tuesday.

After about 30 minutes, Gianni got the shark on shore, according to WPIX. They removed the hook and started taking pictures with it before setting the shark back into the water and watching it quickly swim away.

It's not Gianni's first catch. The teen has been fishing since he was 3. But it is his largest.

"All my friends, I've caught bigger fish than them, so it's kind of good," Gianni told WABC.
