CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 3-year-old boy died after he fell in the stairway near the baggage claim area at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
It happened around 9 p.m. last Wednesday near an escalator.

Jaiden Cowart was taken to Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital, where he later died.
It's unclear how the toddler fell. An investigation is underway.
A GoFundMe described Cowart as energetic, loving and playful.
