HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Gainesville, Georgia, father is under arrest after a family member came home and discovered his 3-year-old son dangerously drunk, according to police.
"An adult male was found passed out from what appeared to be alcohol poisoning and a 3-year-old was acting very abnormally,” said Gainesville Deputy Police Chief Jay Parrish.
Parrish said the father, Marcus Allen, 20, was drinking liquor out of a water bottle. He said when the father passed out, his young son apparently drank from the bottle.
"The child was transported to the hospital where we found the 3-year-old had a very high blood alcohol level, almost twice the legal limit for an adult driver on a preliminary test,” Parrish said.
The father was very uncooperative at the hospital, according to police.
"When our officer went to interview the father, he ran from the hospital and was apprehended in the parking lot. He was charged with cruelty to children in the second degree and obstruction," Parrish said.
The toddler was treated and released from the hospital to another family member. The father remains in the Hall County Jail.
