MILTON, Fla. — A man has been fired from his job at a Florida Wendy’s after a video that appeared to show him bathing in one of the restaurant’s sinks went viral.
The one-minute, 30-second video appears to show the young man wearing only shorts climb into a kitchen sink filled with bubbles as his co-workers encourage him, the Pensacola News Journal reported. The video, which contains profanity, can be watched here.
“Take a bath! Get in there!” one employee can be heard saying.
Toward the end of the video, an employee hands the man some paper towels. The woman holding the camera turns it to show her face, and she’s wearing a cap with the Wendy’s logo.
The video was posted with the caption, “i don’t suggest anyone eating at the milton wendy’s again (sic).”
As of Thursday afternoon, the video had been shared close to 12,000 times.
The manager of the Milton Wendy’s has declined media requests for comment. Mark Johnson, marketing director of Carlisle, which owns the Milton Wendy’s, released the following statement:
"We are taking this incident seriously and it is obviously totally unacceptable. This was a prank by a person who no longer works at this restaurant, and who clearly did not use good judgement. We are taking this opportunity to reinforce our very strict quality procedures with our restaurant team."
The young man in the video is no longer employed by Wendy's, WEAR-TV reported.
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation told WEAR-TV it launched an immediate inspection of the Wendy's after being notified of the video Wednesday afternoon. The department's inspection report indicates only one violation, which was food items in improperly labeled containers.
