KATY, Texas — At least one person was killed and four others were hurt when a man drove into a group of people outside a Texas restaurant, authorities said.
According to KPRC and KHOU, the incident occurred about 1 a.m. local time Thursday outside Pinchy’s Tex-Mex on Mason Road in Katy. Harris County sheriff’s deputies said several people were in the parking lot when a man in his 20s intentionally drove into them, KHOU reported.
Three people were transported to area hospitals, where one of the victims, a 35-year-old woman, died, according to KHOU. Two more victims received treatment at the scene, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted overnight.
“The alleged driver initially fled the scene, but later returned and is now detained,” Gonzalez added.

Authorities have not publicly released the name of the suspect or victims.
