EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Two teenagers died after authorities said they broke into a home in what is believed to have been a “targeted home invasion,” according to multiple reports.
A man told police the young men, aged 16 and 15, broke into his home on Graham Road late Wednesday and attacked him, according to the Hartford Courant. The man was armed with a handgun and shot the suspected intruders while they were in his living room, WTIC reported.
The homeowner, who was alone at the time of the incident, suffered minor injuries, according to NECN. The alleged intruders were taken to local hospitals, where they were pronounced dead, the news station reported.
Officials told WTNH that they believe the alleged home invasion was targeted, although the circumstances leading up to the incident remained unclear Friday. The gun used in the shooting was registered to the homeowner, who is cooperating with authorities, WTIC reported.
Police continue to investigate.
