Family members told East Idaho News that Hayden Holman, of Sugar City, collapsed suddenly and stopped breathing just minutes away from the finish line of the 26-mile St. George Marathon. Police and medical personnel performed CPR on Holman before rushing him to St. George Regional Hospital, where he later died, city officials told St. George News.

“Hayden was one of the most outgoing and nicest (people),” Hayden Holman’s stepmother, Karin Holman, told East Idaho News. “He loved everyone and wore his heart on his sleeve. He will be missed for a long time.”

Hayden Holman was attending Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg and recently served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montreal, Canada, East Idaho News reported. He had gotten married earlier this year.

It was not immediately clear what caused Holman’s death. St. George News reported an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause.
