CHICAGO — A 7-year-old girl has died and her father is recovering from injuries following a shooting at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Chicago, authorities said.

According to WGN and the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago police said the incident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday outside the McDonald’s on West Roosevelt Road in the city’s Homan Square neighborhood. Two people in a gray car opened fire on a silver Infiniti in the drive-thru, striking 28-year-old Jontae Adams and his 7-year-old daughter, Jaslyn, the Sun-Times reported.
Emergency crews rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where the girl later died, police said. Her father, who suffered a gunshot wound to the torso, remains in serious condition, the Sun-Times reported.
