CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — An 8-year-old girl from Maine fell from a ski lift at Sugarloaf ski resort.
The child was riding a triple chair lift called Snubber Wednesday afternoon when something happened during loading that didn’t have her seated correctly, officials at the resort said, according to the Sun Journal.
The girl was on the lift with her mother, WCSH reported.
The incident was caught on camera.
The lift attendants noticed something was not right and stopped the lift, but she was already at least 20 feet in the air, the newspaper reported.
They deployed a safety net below her chair to catch her when she fell. She did not fall to the center of the net, rather, landing on the side of it, WCSH reported.
The girl was wearing a helmet but did say she had back pain.
A news release from the resort said the girl had a preexisting medical condition so she was flown to a Bangor hospital, the Sun Journal reported.
Ski patrol is investigating the incident, WMTW reported.
