The body of Caleb Michael Whisnand Jr. was found Wednesday, shortly after a news conference where his parents pleaded for the child’s return, WBRC reported. The child was reported missing on Monday, the television station reported.

Hours later, officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced that Caleb Michael Whisnand Sr., 32, had been arrested and charged with manslaughter, AL.com reported.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Capt. Leigh Persky said Whisnand is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center, the website reported. Bail was set at $100,000.

The boy’s mother, Angela Nicole Gardner, 28, has not been charged in her son’s death, AL.com reported.

The infant’s remains were found in a wooded area, the child’s grandmother, Margaret Hope, told the website. When last seen the child was wearing a camouflage onesie, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the specifics of the case remain under investigation, and more details will be released Thursday morning during a news conference at 9:30 a.m. CDT.
