Alfred Molina returning as Doctor Octopus in ‘Spider-Man 3’

Your Spidey senses might be tingling. Alfred Molina is strapping on his metal arms and is returning to reprise his role as the evil Doctor Octopus in next year’s “Spider-Man 3” movie.

Molina turned in a hands-on performance in the 2004 “Spider-Man” sequel as Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist transformed into an eight-limbed villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will return in the third installment of the superhero film, which stars Tom Holland.

Jon Watts will return to direct the new “Spider-Man” movie, which began filming in October in Atlanta as a joint production between Sony and Disney’s Marvel Studios, the website reported. The film is scheduled to be released on Dec. 17, 2021, Variety reported.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Jamie Foxx will reportedly appear as the villain Electro, a role he played in 2014′s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Benedict Cumberbatch will make an appearance as Doctor Strange, according to Variety. Other characters expected to return include Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori, the website reported.

Molina, who earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for 2017′s “Feud: Bette and Joan,” starred in “Frozen II” last year and will appear in next year’s Netflix and DreamWorks’ show, “Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans,” Entertainment Weekly reported.

Holland’s first solo outing as the wall-climbing hero was in 2017′s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” followed by 2019′s “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Tobey Maguire portrayed Spider-Man on film from 2001 to 2007, while Andrew Garfield took over the role in 2012′s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and the 2014 sequel, Variety reported.
