You’d think baker and television personality Buddy Valastro would be more likely to slice his hand in the kitchen than playing a sport.
But Valastro, who is known for his massive carved cakes, didn’t hurt himself in the kitchen or bakery.
Instead, his hand was impaled at a bowling alley, CNN reported.
Valastro posted a photo of his bandaged hand as he laid in a hospital bed.
The accident happened when a pinsetter at his in-home bowling alley malfunctioned and he tried to fix it.
“After trying to release the bowling pin from the cage mechanism, his right hand became lodged and compressed inside the unit. Unable to remove his hand, he can see a 1 1/2” metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger," Valastro’s spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly.
His sons were able to cut the metal rod with a reciprocating saw to free their father.
Valastro had two surgeries to repair the damage and will need physical therapy as he is right-handed, his spokesperson told CNN.
He is resting at home, “Good Morning America” reported.
