In a recall notice issued Wednesday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, officials said the recalled beach lounge chairs can collapse unexpectedly, posing an injury hazard if people get their fingers caught in the metal folding joints. No injuries related to the recall have so far been reported, according to the CPSC.

The recalled chairs were identified as beach loungers with white metal frames covered in red or blue woven plastic fabric. The chairs have hang tags that say “Outdoors by Design” on one side and “Distributed by Midwoods Brands LLC” on the other, along with either SKU 3499631 or SKU 3401281 above the bar codes. Officials said chairs with SKU 3499631 also have sewn-in labels that say “Outdoors by Design” at the top and “Midwoods Brands LLC” near the bottom. Chairs with SKU 3401281 have sewn-in labels that say “WARNING” and “DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG” near the top and “MADE IN CHINA” near the bottom.

The chairs were sold from January 2019 through September 2021 at Family Dollar stores and online for $25.

Anyone who bought the chairs is advised to immediately stop using them, according to the CPSC. The beach loungers can be returned for a full refund at any Family Dollar store.
