ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man is accused of breaking into a Little Caesars restaurant after hours, dressed only in boxer shorts, socks and an employee’s apron, authorities said.
Chad Everett Corn, 35, of Milton, was charged with burglary and larceny, according to Escambia County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at a Little Caesars near Pensacola, WEAR-TV reported.
Deputies said Corn entered the restaurant on Aug. 27 through an unsecured front door.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Corn was wearing only boxers and tube socks when he entered the store. Deputies said he grabbed several water bottles and food items, including a brownie.
Deputies said Corn then spotted an employee’s apron and wrapped it around his waist.
“There’s something about boxer shorts, tube socks, and a corporate-inspired apron that must have empowered the burglar,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
At one point, Corn allegedly removed ceiling tiles to escape after the front door locked behind him, WEAR reported. He began crawling through the ceiling before falling through, setting off an alarm, according to the television station.
Deputies said a telephone then rang in the restaurant -- more than likely, a security company calling to check on the building’s status -- and Corn allegedly answered it.
“At this point, he has been in the store long enough to qualify for ‘employee of the month’ and he is dressed for it,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.
Corn climbed through a drive-thru window and was met by deputies, who arrested him, the Miami Herald reported.
“Corn is charged with impersonating a Little Caesars employee (not really),” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Corn was booked into the Escambia County Jail, online records show. Bail was set at $30,000, and he expected to appear in court on Sept. 16, according to online booking records.
