SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A former major league pitcher, accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend on Friday, was found dead Saturday, authorities said.
Update 11:53 p.m. EDT Oct. 3: Charlie Haeger, 37, who pitched for three major league baseball teams during a five-year career, was found dead on Saturday by police in northern Arizona, KPNX reported.
According to police, Haeger was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a Grand Canyon trail Saturday evening, The Arizona Republic reported.
Police were seeking Haeger in connection with the death of his former girlfriend, Danielle Breed, 34, who went by her maiden name of Long, the newspaper reported reported.
Haeger’s abandoned grey 2020 Chrysler Voyager was found near Flagstaff on Saturday.
Breed owned The Tipsy Coyote Bar and Grill in Scottsdale, the Republic reported.

Original report: Charlie Haeger, 37, who pitched for three MLB teams during a five-year career, is wanted by police in Scottsdale, Arizona, KNXV reported.
According to police, a man returned to his Scottsdale residence at 6:55 p.m. and heard gunshots from his roommate’s room, The Arizona Republic reported. The man told police he saw Haeger exit the victim’s bedroom, Haeger then pointed the gun at the roommate, according to police, but the man was able to get away and call 911, the newspaper reported.
A SWAT team called to the scene found the victim in her bedroom, KTVK reported.
Barricades were set up to stop Haeger from fleeing, but he managed to elude police, according to KNXV.
Haeger remains at large, police said. His vehicle was found Saturday afternoon near Flagstaff, the television station reported.
Haeger, a native of Livonia, Michigan, pitched for the Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers from 2006 to 2010.
