LAKE COUNTY, Ill. — A woman was mauled to death by her French bulldog over the weekend, officials said.
Lisa Urso was found outside her home on the patio, unresponsive, Saturday evening, WMAQ reported.
She had been planning on seeing coworkers. But when she didn’t show up, they went to her house to check on her, the Daily Herald reported.
Authorities said Urso recently adopted the dog which had been bred to fight, WGN reported.
The dog had been in the custody of animal control after it had attacked Urso’s boyfriend and she recently regained custody of the animal, officials told WGN.
Lake County County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said Urso was originally attacked inside her home and had injuries from bites and scratches on her torso, legs and arms.
A second French bulldog had blood on it, but her border collie did not, WGN reported.
All three animals were taken to Lake County Animal Control after the incident, but it is believed only one actually attacked Urso, WBBM reported.
