CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Two people were killed and 10 others were injured in a shooting at an Iowa nightclub early Sunday, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at the Taboo Nightclub and Lounge in downtown Cedar Rapids, The Gazette reported. Police were on a routine patrol when authorities received a call at about 1:27 a.m. CDT, the newspaper reported.
“The scene is secure and there is no threat to public safety,” the Cedar Rapids Police Department said in a news release posted on Facebook.
The club, located in the basement level of the Sokol Building, was holding a “90s Bash” with a $10 cover charge at the time of the shooting, The Gazette reported.
The injured people were taken to several area hospitals for treatment, KWWL-TV reported.
Mod Williams, the owner of the nightclub, told the newspaper he had no information about what caused the shooting.

“It’s an extremely disturbing thing that happened and currently I’m just being as cooperative as I can to help the police,” Williams told The Gazette.
