Josh Gad reads to kids, fans during coronavirus social distancing

Josh Gad is among the Hollywood stars who are trying to soften the blow of social distancing for children who may not be used to being cooped up at home.

Gad, who many will recognize as the voice of Olaf from Disney’s “Frozen” franchise, has started reading books to children and families every night. And he pledges to continue doing it as the country tries to insulate itself against COVID-19, or the new coronavirus.

Gad said over the weekend, according to E! News, “Since we’re all stuck at home right now I figured we would have a little fun together. So, I’m going to see how this goes, but I decided I’m gonna read to you and your children or just you, depending on what you prefer. I’m not gonna pass judgment right now since the world is a bit of a hot mess. But I thought tonight, we would start with one of my favorite books about one of my favorite places that none of us can really go, a little place called Venice, in Italy."

The father of two read Ian Falconer’s book “Olivia Goes to Venice” on Friday on Twitter as part of what he called “isolation reading,” adding voices as he read.

The second night, he read “The Day the Crayons Quit,” followed by “The Giving Tree” on Sunday night.

But he is not the only one who is connecting virtually with his fans on social media.

Lizzo held a 30-minute mediation on her Instagram account, Variety reported.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma held a private concert for fans in a Twitter post he called #SongsOfComfort.

Lin-Manuel Miranda posted a song to Twitter and SoundCloud that had been cut from his musical “Hamilton” called “I Have This Friend.”
