Larry King’s widow says talk show host did not die from COVID-19

Shawn King, the widow of the iconic talk show host, Larry King, said her husband did not die from COVID-19.

Instead, he died from sepsis, Shawn King told Entertainment Tonight.

“It was an infection. It was sepsis,” she told the entertainment show.

“Well, he was finally ready to go, I will tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go but his sweet little body was just, it had just been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word COVID, all of our hearts just sunk. But he beat it, you know, he beat it, but it did take its toll and then the unrelated infection finally is what took him, but boy, he was not gonna go down easily,” Shawn King explained.

She said she and their sons were able to say goodbye to Larry King.

“We were able to do FaceTime in the hospital and it was hard for him to talk, but the one message that he wanted to make sure I heard was, ‘I love you, take care of the boys,’” Shawn King told Entertainment Tonight.

King retired from CNN in 2010 but continued to host two digital talk shows on Ora.TV and Hulu, the “Today” show reported.

In the years before his death he had many health issues including a stroke in 2019, heart disease, lung cancer and prostate cancer, “Today” reported.

Larry King was buried during a private ceremony that had a special tribute to his style with the family all wearing his suspenders, his signature fashion choice, Shawn King told Entertainment Tonight.

Larry King died Jan. 23 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 87, the “Today” show reported.
