TAMPA, Fla. — A nearly naked Florida woman was arrested Saturday after leading authorities on a car chase that reached speeds of 110 mph in a stolen Cadillac, officials said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Rachel Lynn Stefancich, 24, of Plant City, was pulled from a car “nearly fully unclothed” and was taken into custody after driving for nearly two hours in a pursuit that ended about 100 miles from where authorities first issued an alert for the stolen vehicle, WFLA reported.
The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert around 10 a.m. about a stolen 2009 Cadillac sedan, the Tampa Bay Times reported. A trooper saw the vehicle on Interstate 75 in Hernando County and tried to pull it over. The driver did not stop, troopers said. The pursuit reached speeds up to 110 mph.
Officers used a pursuit intervention technique to knock the car off the road as Stefancich tried to turn onto State Road 52 in Pasco County. Stefancich was taken into custody about 100 miles from Gilchrist County. She had been driving for about two hours, authorities said.
Stefancich was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, possession of methamphetamine and driving while license is suspended, officials said.
