HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — A New York home was destroyed on Wednesday after a motorist lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the residence, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. EST, WABC reported.
According to police, the 23-year-old driver struck a curb and drove across an intersection, according to the television station. The vehicle crashed into the house and came out of the back side of the residence.

The vehicle also crashed into a detached garage, News12 Long Island reported.
There was someone in the upstairs part of the Long Island residence at the time of the crash but no injuries were reported, WPIX-TV reported.
However, the home was severely damaged and officials deemed it inhabitable, according to the television station.
“It’s insane, you’re supposed to feel safe in your home, this car went right through what appears to be their den, you’re supposed to be safe at home and a car goes flying through,” Hicksville resident Lorraine Burnard told WABC. “This person did not put their foot on the brake, I mean, it’s obvious.”
