“He’s named after Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Seneca Park and many other historic parks across the country,” the zoo wrote in a Facebook post.

Although the zoo said its Animals of the Savanna building is still closed as the mother and baby bond, visitors may be able to see the new arrival – nicknamed Olmy – during one of his appearances in the outdoor yard area, according to the post.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources considers Masai giraffes endangered. As of 2018, about 35,000 mature Masai giraffes remained in the wild, according to the organization’s website.
