The Farmington Police Department, in a Facebook post, assured readers that this report was no bull. It might have raised eyebrows because the news release was published on April Fools’ Day, but authorities insisted that the post was genuine. Police said the 43-year-old woman was hurt while jogging on the Whistle Stop Trail in West Farmington.

Farmington police said they received a 911 call at about 3 p.m. EDT, WTMW-TV reported.

“On arrival, officers met with the female who reported that she had been charged by the male bovine as she prepared for a jog along the trail,” the news release stated. “She was lifted off the ground by the animal’s horns but was able to escape into the nearby tree line.”

The raging bull had escaped from a nearby farm, according to The Associated Press.

According to police, the woman suffered a laceration that required stitches, but she was not taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The owner of the animal was contacted and was able to corral the animal, along with a large pig, police said.

The identity of the animals’ owner is being withheld pending possible charges, the news release stated. The case will be presented to the district attorney’s office for review.
