BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia woman, who is a nurse at an elementary school and high school, is accused of stealing Adderall earlier this year that was meant for students with a prescription, authorities said.

Candie Leann Blankenship, 37, of Hurley, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts petit larceny and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, WJHL reported.

Blankenship, who was arrested by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, was a nurse for Hurley Elementary and Hurley High School, WCYB reported.

The warrants were issued after deputies investigated two incidents, the television station reported. According to WJHL, the first incident occurred Jan. 13-15, while the second occurred between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4.

As a school nurse, Blankenship was responsible for dispensing Schedule II narcotics, including Adderall, to students, the television station reported. The investigation was initiated when some of the drugs were either missing or unaccounted for, the Sheriff’s Office said.

According to authorities, Blankenship admitted taking the medication, WCYB reported. She was arrested and later released after posting $5,000 bail, the television station reported.
