MARLBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two adults and a child were found dead Monday in an apparent double murder-suicide at a home in Chester County, Pennsylvania, police confirmed.
According to KYW-TV, officers with the East Marlborough Township Police Department conducted a welfare check on a Kennett Square residence just after 8 a.m. and made the grisly discovery.
Police confirmed to WTFX-TV that a 55-year-old man, a 50-year-old woman and a 12-year-old were found shot to death, but the victims have not yet been identified publicly. Police also found multiple spent shell casings and a semi-automatic handgun in the home.
“The loss of three lives, I mean, it’s a tragedy that there are really no words to describe,” Dr. Dolly Wideman-Scott, chief executive officer of the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, told KYW-TV.
Investigators determined that there had been a history of domestic violence at the home, both TV stations reported.
Meanwhile, Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan, in a prepared statement, called the deaths an “inconceivable tragedy for the victims’ family, their loved ones and our community.”
“You have my deepest sympathy. We will use all our resources to determine why this heartbreaking and senseless incident happened,” she added.
