FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — A man accused of stealing a vehicle in Pennsylvania was arrested Saturday in West Virginia after deputies found him asleep in the car, authorities said.
Kieran Patrick Heilner, 21, of Holland, was jailed on a fugitive warrant for the unlawful taking of a vehicle, according to a Facebook post from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies conducting welfare checks in parking areas due to wintry weather located a vehicle at the New River Gorge National Park and Reserve visitors center in Lansing, WCHS-TV reported.
Deputies were alerted via their computer system that the vehicle had been reported as stolen, the sheriff’s department said. Heilner was found sleeping inside the vehicle, deputies said.
Heilner was taken to the Southern Regional Jail to await extradition back to Pennsylvania, WCHS reported.
