TURBOTVILLE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania mom is facing involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment charges in connection with the drowning death of her 3-year-old son, authorities said.
According to WOLF and NorthcentralPA.com, Britney Bridges, 23, of Turbotville, is being held in the Northumberland County Jail on a $125,000 bond following her arraignment Monday, authorities said.
The news came weeks after Bridges’ neighbors found her toddler son, Clayton-Lucas Hamilton, floating in their pool Aug. 11, Pennsylvania State Police reported. Hamilton, who authorities believe drowned after falling into the water, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to the news outlets.
Bridges later told police that she and Namir Turner were sleeping when Hamilton wandered out of the home, WOLF reported. She said she started searching for the boy after hearing sirens outside, authorities said.
“I know that little [expletive]’s around here somewhere,” Bridges said while looking for Hamilton, according to WOLF. She told investigators that Hamilton previously had wandered from the home multiple times, the news outlets reported.
After realizing that Hamilton had been found in the pool, Bridges and Turner went to the hospital, authorities said. Officers noticed the odor of marijuana on Bridges at the time, WOLF reported.
