LUBBOCK, Texas — A wallaby on the loose in northwest Texas? That’ll be the day.
It is a strange, but true situation in the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll legend Buddy Holly. A pet wallaby escaped from a business in Lubbock on Saturday morning after high winds blew down a gate that housed the animal, KLBK reported.
The animal, native to Australia and New Guinea, belongs to Party Time Ponies and Events in Lubbock, the television station reported. The wallaby is an attraction at the petting zoo and occasionally participates in parties for children as part of the company’s party package, according to its website.
