EDINBORO, Pa. — Pennsylvania State police are investigating reports that someone released bedbugs in a men’s fitting room at a Walmart, authorities said.
The incident was reported at a Walmart Supercenter in Edinboro, the Erie Times-News reported. A Walmart manager contacted the state police, reporting that store employees found a closed pill bottle containing live bedbugs, the newspaper reported.
Police said the bottle was found in a boys’ jacket.
Friday, the bottle was sent to Ecolab, which confirmed the insects were bedbugs, WENY reported.
A second closed pill bottle, containing several dead bugs, was found by a Walmart employee in the men’s department of the store, according to the Times-News.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, bedbugs are small, flat, parasitic insects that feed solely on the blood of people and animals while they sleep.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
